The sound card on your computer system is the device that allows you to listen to your music, make calls through your IM and get audio while watching your favourite movies. Many people become extremely frustrated when they're system stops producing sound or when they're unable to use the microphone correctly on their system. There are two reasons why this might occur and my article intends on elaborating on these reason while providing you with viable solutions to rectifying the problem.
If your sound card came preinstalled in your computer, then it's a good chance that your sound issue could be hardware based. A loose cable connection is one of the most common reasons for hardware sound issues. Sometimes the sound card hasn't been installed into the systems motherboard correctly, for this reason, it's important that you read the manual that comes with the card, if you ever intend on reinstalling it yourself.
When we go over to the software side, we find that the most common software error is related to the drivers. At times the drivers for the component have not been installed or they might have become corrupted requiring reinstalling. If you'd like to find out whether or not your sound card drivers have been installed properly, then you should go to the device manager and click on your sound device and check whether it's working correctly. If you see a yellow exclamation sign next to your device, that's an indication that there's a problem with the devices drivers, in this particular case, reinstalling them should solve the problem.
