Pros and Cons of Flash-based site

Flash based sites have been craze since last few years, and as Macromedia builds more and more great features to Flash, we can only predict more flash sites around the Internet. However, Flash based sites disputed by wleczenia and unnecessary. Exactly where we must draw the line? Here's a simple breakdown.

Goods:

Interactivity

Flash's Actionscript opens field receiving options. Developers and designers have used Flash to create interactve features ranging from very vigorous feedback forms to impressive Flash-based games. A whole new level of interactivity will always leave the visitors coming back for more information.

Standardized site

With Flash you don't have to worry about browser compatibility. No more woes over how certain CSS displays differently in Internet Explorer, Firefox and Opera. After placing the site elements in Flash, they will always appear as they are so long as you have Flash Player installed.

Better expression with animation

In Flash, you can use one of the feature message in animating give significantly more efficient and effective manner. Flash light options for animation because it is vector system (and hence smaller file sizes) as opposed to real "movie files", which are raster based and therefore much greater.

Bad and the ugly:

Flash player

People are downloading Flash player in advance before they can view Flash movies, so using Flash range visitors will decrease considerably because not everyone will be willing to download Flash player to view the site. It will also put in additional work in redirecting the user to download Flash, if he or she does not have the player installed.

Site Optimization

If your content was presented in Flash, most search engines wouldn't be able to index content. Hence will not be able to rank well in search engines and will be less traffic to your site position.

Charging time

Users have to wait longer than usual to load Flash content compared to regular text and images, and some visitors might just lose their patience and click back. The longer your Flash becomes load more risk to visitors.

The best way to Go is by using Flash only absolutely interactivity and motion that comes with it. Otherwise use a mixture of Flash and HTML or plain text if the site is purely to provide simple text information and graphics.
