India Announces cheapest computer in the world

India Announces World's Cheapest ComputerSince it came out the iPad Apple, equipment manufacturers have worked hard to make the competition of Tablet PCs and devices. A core team of netbook or Tablet PC can cost at least $250-$300 and they can be much more expensive but imagine how to get one for $35. It seems too good to be true, right?

According to the Associated Press, students and teachers at the Indian Institute of technology have created precisely that. A team of 35 dollars. The team was designed with students and teachers in mind and was presented last week by the Cabinet Minister of HRD, Kapil Sibal India.

Team has not been named yet and runs on low power, yet allows users to connect to the internet. He has an operating system Linux open source, 2 GB RAM, a browser of internet, USB port, a PDF reader, Open Office Suite, multimedia software, video conferencing, and is enabled Wi-Fi. The computer does not use a hard drive, but have a memory card like those found in many mobile phones and other devices. You can also include an option of solar energy for rural areas where there is no electricity.

The new team is expected to be available in 2011 and will be introduced first in colleges and universities. The India Government plans to produce a million computers for college students, and then work on creating more for primary and secondary students. According to the Associated Press, there has been no manufacturer or distributor named yet but you can bet that several have been showing interest in doing the cheapest computer in the world.
